The Dreaded...
Potty Training isn't going great. I guess having a baby brother can set a girl back in the wrong direction when it comes to using the big potty. I should probably recap a little. Daisy has been showing signs that she was ready to use the big potty for months, probably since she was 18 months old. However I decided to hold off because I didn't want her to regress as I have heard can happen when there is a new baby. So here we are today, and she is so very ready. She doesn't like her diapers to be wet or poopy, she hides when we need to change the diaper, she is however very vocal about her diapers. She will usually come up to me and say "I poopy". She will even go get the diaper voluntarily, yet she will not lie in one spot long enough for me to change it. So fun! For the past few weeks we have been really talking up the potty. We even have a potty book and bought a seat and stool just for her. But whenever I have tried to get her to even sit on the seat she goes rigid and yells no. Aaron has got her on it once or twice but I have had no such luck. So this morning when I asked Daisy to go get a diaper to change her very full pants, she yelled "no" and hid the diapers under her bed. This is when I decided that today was going to be the day we started potty training for real. I pulled out undies and got a bag of skittles to give her when she did the deed on the pot. I told her what we were doing and to come to the bathroom with me. She was all like "yeah!" but as soon as I popped up the lid she said "no I want Diaper" and ran back to her room and pulled the "hidden" diapers out from underneath her bed. So I dropped it. I figured she will go when she is ready and I am not going to force her before she is ready, she only just turned two. However I forgot about the bag of skittles I left on the bathroom counter. Of course she found it and once I saw her with it I took it away and told her that candy was only for when she went on the potty. She was so mad, so mad in fact she through herself on the floor so hard she knocked the air out of herself a little bit. Scared herself pretty bad. So yeah that has been our attempt so far at potty training. Maybe in a few weeks she will have changed her mind and wants to be like a big girl. Who knows? Wish us luck!

ReplyDeleteAwe poor girl...she just wants some skittles! ha ha good luck!
ReplyDeleteSo fun to read about your life.. You're such an awesome mom, you make me smile! She may be fully potty trained by now, but if not, try to encourage her to go every hour and give her high fives and skittles for keeping her pull up/diaper dry.. Sing "That's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it" when she does pee, part of my job right now is to potty train and they like it more when its fun, and until they learn to fully control their bladders, encouraging them to go every hour allows them to stay dry most of the time! Good luck! Miss you!
