Daisy Today...

Daisy is almost my little toddler. She was 14 months old last week. That is so weird. She isn't walking yet, but is so close. She is a strong little girl and can stand up by herself, but when it comes to taking a step she wimps out. I think her reasoning behind not walking is "I can crawl faster, so why walk?". However, I am sure in the next few weeks if not days she will be walking on her own. When we walk together she runs. Daisy likes to go fast. She also likes to take death dives off the couch. The other day she was crawling and bouncing all over the couch, one of her favorite activities. While throwing herself backwards toward the cushions, she stopped looked at me and flung herself forward into the air. I caught her before she hit the floor. You would think a girl who jumps off couches would be courageous enough to take a step.

She also has a few words. She can say "hi", "Mama", "bye", "no", and "book". Although book sounds more like "bough". When she says "hi" she waves. I can tell she is copying a lot of the sounds I make and she makes a lot of sounds.  Also when I finish drinking a beverage and make the "AAAHHH..." refreshed sound, she does it too. We are working on blowing kisses. She gets the hand going to the mouth, but not the blowing kiss. She also gives kisses, big wet ones. One of her favorite games to play is the tongue game. I will stick out my tongue and wiggle it side to side, then she does it, then I do it again, and then back and forth till it gets old. She loves to play with her cousins. Even though she is at the age when she is pretty much playing solo, she likes to follow her cousins around. She especially loves to be pushed on a scooter by her cousin Laine. Her favorite toy is a bucket that has the shape holes at the top. She is getting better a figuring out which shape goes through which hole. She sure loves putting stuff into other stuff and vice versa. Daisy is loud. I know that most kids are loud because they are kids, but Daisy loves to scream at the top her lungs just because she can. She does it when she is eating, sitting in a dead quiet room at church, or when she is playing.

Whenever the laundry room door is open she races down the hall to try and sneak a snack of cat food. She's made it once and that was gross. She loves books, I made a goal to read to her everyday before bed, hopefully I am instilling a love of reading in her. So far she likes it. She still fits into her 9 month onsies even though she is 14 months old. She is getting longer, her 9 month PJ's are to short and even some of her 12 month clothes don't fit. She also combs her hair. When I get ready for the day she likes to play with all of my brushes. She combs her hair and they wants to comb mine. Whenever she finds one of her little hair rubber bands she puts it on top of her head. She also loves shoes. She is always pulling the shoes out of the shoe basket and tries them on. She may not be able to get them on all the way, but she does try. I have written before that Daisy is a wiggly wiry girl. It can be tiring to hold her sometimes especially on Sundays. But lately she has taken to moments of sitting still. I LOVE it! She has let me cuddle with her and hold her in the cradle position which she has fought since I stopped breast feeding back in last April. Even if it is only for a few minutes I am glad that she will slow down for a love. Overall Daisy is a very happy girl. She smiles and giggles most of the day except when she has he moments. We sure do love her.

  1. She is so adorable! Ella was a late walker too, she was right at 14.5 months when she finally started walking.
