Gone Fishin.... Kind Of

Last Thursday Aaron had the day off and in the morning we got our first family pictures. I won't post them yet because they haven't been edited, but there are some very cute ones. Anyway after we had our pictures taken Aaron decided that he wanted to go fishing. So we loaded up the Corolla and headed up to Lake Pleasant. "I have never been to Lake Pleasant" I told Aaron on our way there and he looked at me and said "Really?" Which to me is a funny question because since I have lived in the valley I have pretty much been with Aaron the whole time and he'd never taken me, so I don't know why he was so surprised... Anyway it is a very beautiful lake. The dessert is always so beautiful in the spring. The summer heat hasn't sucked away all the moisture so things are green and flowers are blooming. We pulled up to what seemed to be a promising spot near one of the docs. However, after only what seemed liked 10 minutes, Aaron deemed the spot fish free and decided to venture out and look for another area. I thought he should have given it a little bit more time, but I guess there is more fun in looking for a good spot. So we spent the next hour or so driving the back roads of Lake Pleasant in the Corolla. Someday hopefully we will have a truck. We didn't get out of the car to fish again, but Aaron thinks he found some places to explore on another trip... a trip without me and Daisy : ) It was fun to just drive around, it reminded me of growing up. We always went camping or for Sunday afternoon drives on old logging roads. I enjoy being in the car with my family. We also saw some Donkeys. Apparently there are wild Donkeys that live at Lake Pleasant. Donkeys are funny some of them even ran along the side of the car for a while... Overall it was nice to go and see something new.

Daisy at the lake.

Getting ready to throw out a line.

Searching for a deeper spot.

this picture makes me think of the big foot one...

Me and Daisy.

And two Donkeys... haha

No title...

I have been meaning to write down a few of Daisy's milestones, but I have been keeping myself too busy to sit down at the computer. For example, I should be folding laundry right now, but I don't want to. Anyway about a week or two ago Daisy found her toes and rolled over! It is so fun to watch her grow and learn. She found her toes and then the next day she rolled over. It's kind of funny when she rolls over to her belly because once she gets there its like, now what? Then she gets very mad because she doesn't know how to roll back.

Aaron is now officially in the Air National Guard. He swore in last Monday. I wish I would have thought to take a picture, someday I'll learn. He has to shave his beard now. I am looking forward to seeing him in uniform even though that will be months away. He is excited.

I have a lot of thoughts blowing around in my head and I guess I will write them down. I love taking care of Daisy and being home. This is really all I have ever wanted. I have always wanted to be a wife and mother. And the funny thing though is that I didn't really know it till it all kind of happened. When I left home for school I had a lot of ideas about how I thought my life should go. It went something like this... play volleyball (that was always number one on the list, even though it shouldn't have been), go to school and finish school with an outstanding degree of some kind, marry and then have kids. But, the Lord had a different plan for me and I am so thankful because his plan is way better than mine.  It was a similar plan to mine but his order is better. I knew that all the years I was growing up and going to Young Women's that the purpose of that program was to prepare me to be a wife and mother. At the time though that was not what I thought of it, but after being married and becoming a mother, I now realize how many of the experiences I had growing were truly there to prepare me for my future roles. Not saying I am perfect at these roles far, far from it and I am just starting out, but I have recognized the blessings that have come from how I grew up. I am so thankful that I get to stay home, I hope that this will always be something I can do. I enjoy my home. I think I get this from my mom. She has always enjoyed her home and was always improving or changing it in is some way. Now I do that and so do my sisters. I like to create in my home even if it doesn't always turn out like I imagine in my head. Hopefully with years of experience I will be able to create my dream home. But for now it is kind of a trial and error experimental situation, continuously going on in my house. Poor Aaron is always having to put up with a new project of mine. The latest project was my table. This was a experiment turned out great! I love my newly redone table.

This is a picture of her almost rolling over a few days before she really did it.

Grabbing her toes.

More toe grabbing.

This is my table now.

This is my table before. I didn't have a very good picture of it so this will have to do.
(Don't worry, we normally don't let Finch near the top of the table, but this had the potential to be a funny picture, if only the lap top would have been open...)

Floppy Hat

How does your garden grow?

I am attempting to grow a garden. While growing up my mom always had a garden and we enjoyed the fruits of her labors. I always enjoyed picking all the veggies, eating fresh foods and the smell of freshly tilled earth. So, last Monday I planted my first garden. Well technically my second I grew a tulip garden for personal progress one year, but those are kind of fail proof. I am hoping that it will produce. I have planted tomatoes, lettuce, onions, garlic, cucumbers, squash, and peppers. Its been one week and they are still alive and even more they are growing! Hopefully everything grows according to plan because freshly grown produce is SO much tastier than anything bought at the store, plus its cheaper. So pray for my little garden.

Sleepy Grump Face

This picture does not do justice the scowl that is on her face. Lately Daisy has been falling asleep with a very grumpy expression stuck on her face. She gets this from her Dad. One of the first things I noticed after Aaron and I got married was that on occasion he would fall asleep looking mad. It was so weird and funny. Well now his little girl has inherited this trait. I have named it the "Sleepy Grump Face".

Thatcher

Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher.... Thatcher is one of those words you can say over and over until it doesn't even sound like a real word anymore. The reason I have been saying Thatcher over and over is, one the drive to Thatcher is long and it can get boring in the car and two, we went to Thatcher this past weekend to visit Heather. Heather turns 19 today! So for the weekend Steve and Rena invited us to go to Thatcher with them to surprise Heather. She knew that her parents were coming, but not anyone else. In the end Aaron, Daisy, and I and Jer with Bode and Laine were the only ones who were able to go. It was fun to go see Heather and where she lived. It was also great to get out of town and do something different. Daisy was a good little traveler. She slept the whole way there and the whole way home. She also slept good in the motel. We did what you do in Thatcher, which isn't much ; ) We ate at R&R Pizza, which was very tasty and Casa Manana, which was actually kind of a downer, but still fun to go. We mostly hung out at Heather's apartment which is pretty nice for poor college students. We also hit up El Rey on the way home This is a very good Mexican food restaurant that the Brooks have been eating at for years. Without fail whenever we drive through Miami we will stop at El Rey. Overall it was a really good weekend and I am glad we got to go.

Heather had leftover BBQ sauce on her fingers that Daisy really enjoyed : )

Big smiles for Grandma.

We're sooo pretty...

This is our first family picture. I have been so bad about pictures, but I wanted to get one in front of the temple in Pima.
I love temples they are so beautiful. This was the first time we've seen this temple. It it literally on the side of the road... I love it!
