Black and Blue...

Daisy got her first black eye a few days ago. She tookn a fall off the couch. I was folding laundry and she was using the laundry basket as a balance, it tipped over and she went with it. Unlucky for her I wasn't fast enough to catch her and the toys were on the floor. She whacked her eye on a block. She was a trooper though, only cried for a second.

Its not a bad black eye. Am not happy that she hurt her eye, but I am glad she likes to play. And kids who play sometimes get hurt.

Orange Pickin...

is what we did this morning. It was fun. I love days that bring something unexpected, like today. My Mom and Dad made a quick visit down to Surprise and we got to spend the morning Grandma. Whenever my Mom comes down we hit yard sales. Today was no different expect that instead of going home afterwards we went to a "U Pick". I had never been to a citrus orchard before.
You pay for your bag and then go pickin.

Mom, Heidi and Piper.

I love this picture, big brothers are the best.
(Heidi you can steal these pictures)

Me and Daisy (a little blurry).

Sorry Mom I just think its a funny picture, like your mad and about to throw it at somebody.

Poor Daisy she has a weird mom, just look at her expression haha.

A Gallon of Paint Can Go a Long Way.

I got this table for free from my sister's old neighbor. I was in the right place at the right time.

Before

After.

It seems so white. It definitely looks better than the wood though. I am really liking lighter shades lately. I bought a gallon of white paint last August to redo my end tables. I ended up using the paint to paint my kitchen cabinet, end tables, hall tree, shelf, and the above table. So I just wanted to post how impressed I was at the longevity of this paint.

A Day at the Park

So a few weeks ago we had a free afternoon and I thought it would be fun to go to the park. I thought Daisy would have so fun swinging on the swings and sliding down the slide. I was wrong. She cried and whined, which isn't really how she usually acts to new things. All she wanted to do was walk around. So that's what we did on our park day, we walked and walked. Aaron did take her on the jungle gym, but she didn't want to be set down. Overall it was a kind of a bummer afternoon at least for me. Turns out though that that next day one of her molars popped through, so that explained the sour attitude toward the park. We will have to go back and see how a non teething Daisy likes it.

My shelf

This shelf was my first attempt at building something. I think it turned out okay. If you are ever at my house though, don't look to closely, its got its fair share of wood filler : ). I got the idea and the instructions for the shelf from my sister Jill. About a year ago she made a few of these and I loved it. So I thought I will make one too. I already had the tools and paint so all I needed was the wood. I went to Home Depot and they cut the wood for me. Which was so convenient because I only have a miter box with a little saw. No electric saws here. I did have to cut all the moulding myself though. I am proud to say that I didn't have to make more that one cut. I really didn't want to ruin it and have to go back to the store. I enjoyed building things. I got a lot of satisfaction out of redoing my kitchen cabinets. I want to make another one, now that I have a better idea how to do it.

Monster Jam

So guess who got to pick our last date? Thats right me! Just kidding Monster Jam was Aaron's pick and he did good. For the past while our main date has been dinner and a movie. We both were getting a little bored with the same-o-same-o. The commercials for Monster Jam have been on for the past month and everytime Aaron saw it he would ask me "Would you go to that?" and I would say "Yes". I don't think he believed me till maybe the third or fourth time he asked. So he got some tickets from a friend and we went to Monster Jam.We had to get to Chase Stadium a few hours early to park and find a place to eat dinner. I have only been to downtown Phoenix once for a Sun's game and that was at night. So this was a new adventure for me. It was fun walking around down there. We spent most of the time guessing who was going to Monster Jam and who was going to the Sun's game. I also counted six mowhawks. I thought I would see more.

Here we are at the Hard Rock Cafe. I had never been there before and I can say I am good. My burger was disappointing, but it was fun to go.

We had pretty good seats. Although a very large Monster Jam fan and by large I mean he was a big boy came and squeezed next to me. We were in bleacher seating and it was a little snug. He was also the epidemy of a redneck. It made me laugh and I thought well I guess this is just part of the experience. Luckily though he switched seats with his friend's girlfriend.

We got to see Jeremiah and Bode too. Their seats weren't next to us but we said hi before it started.

And here they are. It was pretty cool, these huge trucks flying 30 plus feet into the air.

They are also incredibly loud. Like make your lungs shake loud. I think Aaron and I had a smile on our faces the whole time.

I also had a bit of a Monster Jam history lesson from Aaron. I learned that the truck named Grave Digger was the one that started it all, that he's been doing it for 30 years, and that he is the best.
Most of all I had fun with Aaron. He picked a fun date.

Daisy Today...

Daisy is almost my little toddler. She was 14 months old last week. That is so weird. She isn't walking yet, but is so close. She is a strong little girl and can stand up by herself, but when it comes to taking a step she wimps out. I think her reasoning behind not walking is "I can crawl faster, so why walk?". However, I am sure in the next few weeks if not days she will be walking on her own. When we walk together she runs. Daisy likes to go fast. She also likes to take death dives off the couch. The other day she was crawling and bouncing all over the couch, one of her favorite activities. While throwing herself backwards toward the cushions, she stopped looked at me and flung herself forward into the air. I caught her before she hit the floor. You would think a girl who jumps off couches would be courageous enough to take a step.

She also has a few words. She can say "hi", "Mama", "bye", "no", and "book". Although book sounds more like "bough". When she says "hi" she waves. I can tell she is copying a lot of the sounds I make and she makes a lot of sounds.  Also when I finish drinking a beverage and make the "AAAHHH..." refreshed sound, she does it too. We are working on blowing kisses. She gets the hand going to the mouth, but not the blowing kiss. She also gives kisses, big wet ones. One of her favorite games to play is the tongue game. I will stick out my tongue and wiggle it side to side, then she does it, then I do it again, and then back and forth till it gets old. She loves to play with her cousins. Even though she is at the age when she is pretty much playing solo, she likes to follow her cousins around. She especially loves to be pushed on a scooter by her cousin Laine. Her favorite toy is a bucket that has the shape holes at the top. She is getting better a figuring out which shape goes through which hole. She sure loves putting stuff into other stuff and vice versa. Daisy is loud. I know that most kids are loud because they are kids, but Daisy loves to scream at the top her lungs just because she can. She does it when she is eating, sitting in a dead quiet room at church, or when she is playing.

Whenever the laundry room door is open she races down the hall to try and sneak a snack of cat food. She's made it once and that was gross. She loves books, I made a goal to read to her everyday before bed, hopefully I am instilling a love of reading in her. So far she likes it. She still fits into her 9 month onsies even though she is 14 months old. She is getting longer, her 9 month PJ's are to short and even some of her 12 month clothes don't fit. She also combs her hair. When I get ready for the day she likes to play with all of my brushes. She combs her hair and they wants to comb mine. Whenever she finds one of her little hair rubber bands she puts it on top of her head. She also loves shoes. She is always pulling the shoes out of the shoe basket and tries them on. She may not be able to get them on all the way, but she does try. I have written before that Daisy is a wiggly wiry girl. It can be tiring to hold her sometimes especially on Sundays. But lately she has taken to moments of sitting still. I LOVE it! She has let me cuddle with her and hold her in the cradle position which she has fought since I stopped breast feeding back in last April. Even if it is only for a few minutes I am glad that she will slow down for a love. Overall Daisy is a very happy girl. She smiles and giggles most of the day except when she has he moments. We sure do love her.
