March 2012

Daisy and I planted our garden the other day. This year we went with more of a fancy look than veggies. There is some squash and tomatoes in there, but mostly flowers. I think it looks pretty, however growing up with a Mom who is a gardener, I have to admit I felt a little guilty not planting a more practical garden. It did beautify our backyard though.

I have been introducing more big kid things to Daisy's world lately. This day was painting. She didn't get it and ate the paint. If you look closely her mouth is blue. I will try paint again in a few months.

Daisy has discovered her room this past month. She has never really played in there because I keep her toys in the front room. But she found that it is fun to have her own space! She crawls in her chair and "reads" her books. I guess I should also note that Daisy is an official walker now. At about 15 months she figured out that she liked to walk. I love it! I think it is so cute, her little tush sticks out for balance and she waddles.

She has also learned how to scribble. Some how she always finds a pen and paper. You would think I would be better about not having them at a child's level? I found this piece of paper the other day under the couch. I guess Aaron felt the need to make sure I knew it was Daisy's, made me laugh.

What a good Dad Daisy has! He gave her a bath the other day, then let her play in the nude for about an hour. She loved it.

My little writer.

Umm... she likes spaghetti.

Sadly this past month brought a nasty rash with it. I noticed little bumps on Daisy's left leg and at her 15 month check up (she weighed 21.4 lbs and was in the 25% for height) I got some cream for it. But I think the cream just spurred it on, because the little rash on her knee exploded all over her legs and arms. I was so sad for her, she didn't seem to notice or care. She has been on a daily regime of  antibiotics, neosporin, and calamine lotion. It is finally starting to calm down.

Since we have had Daisy, this blog probably should have been renamed The Life and Times of Daisy Brooks. This blog is her baby book.  I am so thankful that I get to stay home with her so far. Everything I post about our little girl is just a reminder to me that I am where I am suppose to be. And speaking of me I guess I will update what is going on in my life besides Daisy. Which to be honest isn't too much :) I was on a craft kick for the past few weeks, I decorated the hallway and did some stuff in Aaron and I's bedroom. I should take some pictures... I have also been watching a friend's children Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Daisy likes having kids to play with. For a few months now I have been giving individual volleyball lessons to two girls in my stake. I love it! I love volleyball and at this point in my life coaching is really the only way to be connected to the game I love. I also love being around other people who love volleyball too. I also love that it is not a full coaching commitment. I have looked into coaching club, but right now I can't give up that many nights a week for practice when Aaron is going to school at nights. Who would watch Daisy? I have also had zero motivation to work out. I love working out. I feel better and after I am done I am much more productive for the rest of the day. However, sleep has been so much more appealing than doing a pinterest work out.
I have also been thinking about this blog. I know only few people read it and I keep it going in the hopes that someday I will make it a book for my children to read. It is a small record of our comings and goings. I think it needs to be a little more than that so in the future I want to post a few things about what I believe. I was sitting in church on Sunday and our teacher asked us to recall a time when a prayer was answered. I thought of story from when I was nine and had lost my Grandmother's pens. They were the kind that you dipped in ink. Anyway I was in trouble and said a small prayer to find them. And I did. They were in my Mom's window seal. Who knows how they got there? But even though that was a small story I thought. I could share that on my blog. And maybe someday one of my kids would read it and know that I had a testimony of prayer at a young age. So I am going to try and make more of an effort to infuse my testimony into this blog. It might be cheesy, but I am going to do it.

Feburary 2012

Last September my sister Heidi found a deal on Wicked tickets for groups. So my whole family decided to go. It was so fun! We ate a the Cheesecake Factory then headed over to Gamage for the show. This was the first time in my memory that all of my siblings and their spouses were all together without any kids. We should do it more often.

This was a rare snuggle from Daisy. It was late in the evening and she just wanted her dad.

This cute little dress was made by Daisy's Great Grandma. I love that she has so many wonderful grandparents to love on her. I also got a lot of compliments on this dress at church.

Last weekend we made a quick get a way to Sedona. It was beautiful. We ate lunch and had homemade ice cream. We were also given an uninvited little lesson on some kind of vortex and crystals... needless to say there were some interesting people there.

And to wrap up the month Daisy got strep throat. I took her to the doctor last Tuesday but her test came back negative. So the week went on and she had a low fever in the evenings and a runny nose. But on Friday night her cough tightened and her temp rose to 103.2. So we made a midnight run to Urgent Care to confirm what I thought she had on Tuesday, strep. She is now on antibiotics and is still a sickly girl, but she is doing better.
