The Air National Guard.... ever heard of it?

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6. This scripture has been on my mind lately, it is one of my favorites and has always been something I turn to when unexpected things arrise in my life. Like when I moved down here to the valley and met Aaron. He was a part of the plan, but came a few years before I had thought and same with Daisy. I think of this scripture now because the latest event to take place in our little family is Aaron's decision to join the Air National Gaurd. I knew of the Air Force and the National Gaurd, but not of the branch that combines the two. So when Aaron came to me a few months ago with the idea that he was considering moving in that direction, I had a few questions. One, what was the Air National Guard? Come to find out its like joining the Air Force reserves, but instead of being run federally it is run by the state. Now I don't know how many people have family or associations in the military, but I never really have. So, this whole process has been very new and a lot of information to process. Anyway after much thought and prayer... Aaron has officially signed up. He took his testing and physical this past Wednesday and now we wait for his name to be drawn. To my understanding the Air National Guard is different from the National Guard alone, in that there is a waiting list to start. So once they contact him we will see where he goes from there. It will most likely be later this year maybe the end of summer, but we won't know for certain. When he does go he will go to boot camp for two months... haha I wish I could watch. After the two months of boot camp he will then be required to train for another four months in his chosen profession. However, all the jobs are not always available all the time. Aaron is hoping to train as a cargo plane mechanic and if this opportunity arises he will then have to go to four months of specialty training. So I may be visiting a lot of family, heads up Jill : ) Aaron is excited (or as excited as he will show) and looking forward to being apart of this. He has always had an interest in the military but never really pursued it until now. And this is a good compromise for me because it isn't full on military so, he will be doing his service here locally, working at sky harbor, if everything goes according to plan. However, one thing that the Lord seems to be trying to teach me repeatedly is that most things never really go according to plan : ) All that we can do is our best and hope for the best. So far everything works out the way it should. I feel that we have been very blessed so far in our marriage and I look forward to watching Aaron go forward.
