Aaron's Grandma Brooks, Barbara passed away on Sunday morning. I only knew Barbara for four years, but in that time I felt a Grandmother's love for her family. Growing up my Grandpa Brewer and Grandpa Merrill passed away before I really got to know either of them and my Grandmothers health were both very poor. Since I am the youngest of the younger children in my parents families, I only really got to know my Grandma Beverly, who was really my step Grandmother, but she was the best! I knew her the longest until she wanted to be with my Grandpa Gib and passed away at the end of 2008. So when I married Aaron and all of his Grandparents were here and very much the best Grandparents, I felt lucky to get to experience Grandparents while I was older. Both sets of Aaron's Grandparents are so wonderful. And that brings me to Barbara. She was and is funny, I am sure she is cracking jokes in heaven right now. I enjoyed talking about politics with her and enjoyed watching her get fired up. She made both of my kids beautifully crocheted keepsakes. She was so talented. I always felt loved and special putting my Daisy in dresses her Great Grandmother had made. I love the sentiment behind such thoughtful gifts. A birthday never passed without a card. I look forward to the day when I get to see her again and her lively way of using her expressions to talk to you. I know Aaron loves his family especially all his Grandparents. It was one of the things that I first loved about him, was his love for his family. I know that he is a loved grandson. I am sure he could write down a lot of memories about his Grandma, maybe I will make him someday... It is a great thing to have roots and Barbara was a great lady.
Don't they look alike? Those are some strong genes. Now I know where Aaron and Daisy got the eyebrows from. Those eyebrows that give me the best faces. It is such an amazing thing to be connected through family. I love that my little girl looks like her Great Grandma! Now maybe one of our next kids will actually look like my side of the family...? ;)
This was on Daisy's blessing Day.
Families are Forever.
Wow! Having those two pictures side by side really shows the genes. Maybe Daisy will crack jokes and get worked up about politics too. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Daisy and Grandma Brooks. I never realized how much they look alike. Seriously amazing.
